What will be the bright spot for the Pelicans in this series?
Jake: The continued dominance of Anthony Davis. The last time these two teams played in Oracle, Davis played fantastic in the Pelicans much needed win. Continuing to thrive on the biggest stage sets the tone for this franchise, fanbase, and (hopefully) free-agents and other superstars in the NBA. It is something the team can build off of.
Raby: Jrue proving last series was not an anomaly. He’ll contribute at both ends and cause fits for the Warriors. Even if the Pelicans don’t win the series, Jrue will show that the Pelicans aren’t completely outclassed by the defending champs.
Luis: Playoff Rondo continuing. AD will get his, and it won’t be a surprise if Jrue continues his stellar play. This is the best example of the type of team that was supposed to render Rondo-esque point guards obsolete. However, with his leadership, experience, and chemistry with the rest of the Pels, I expect the vet to show out once again.
Jason: Davis and Jrue should continue to shine, even in potential losses, showing the organization and the fanbase that the core pieces are the right ones going forward. That could be more important than winning individual games, although a win or two would certainly magnify any bright spot that emerge from the series.
Jermaine: A healthy, rested Pelicans squad that can play with the same energy as the last series. While fans in New Orleans always thought they were capable talent-wise, this is arguably the first time all season we’ve seen the Pels play with that level of ferocity and consistency on defense. It takes a lot of energy but they’re going to need that same effort to challenge Golden State.
